it all started when...

Bryan Schenone started CrossFit Redding in 2007, and has grown it into a successful business. One day, he began to see what was happening in his surrounding community and wanted to make a positive impact outside of his gym.  While Bryan had the tools to do so, he didn’t have the time to run a business and start a non-profit.

But then...

Claudia Waite was a former teacher and stay at home mom who had found CrossFit in 2013.  She was out of shape and unhappy.  But through CrossFit, she was able to start a lifelong health journey and find the courage and determination in herself to push through the hard and challenging times to work toward a better future.  She decided that if she could do it, then anyone could improve their lives through CrossFit.  Bryan and Claudia connected, and Redding Youth Athletic Club was born!

CFRYAC aims to provide opportunities for the youth of our city to experience the life-changing abilities of CrossFit.

ok, cool. tell me more...

CrossFit Redding Youth Athletic Club (CFRYAC) is a local non profit. We use CrossFit to grow the health, fitness, and character strength of the city’s at-risk youth. The kids participate in courses that allow them to experience and develop their character traits on a fundamental, physical level. By using Grit, Perseverance, self-control, goal setting, gratitude, and optimism in workouts, they both come to recognize those strengths within themselves and use them for success in their own lives and as future citizens.
